On August 6, on the grounds of a lovely farm in Beltsville, Maryland, over 100 people gathered for an all-you-can-eat crab feast in support of Deaf-REACH. Attendees enjoyed Maryland crabs, grilled burgers, hot dogs, vegetarian fare, and yummy side dishes and desserts while catching up with old friends and meeting new ones.

Special events coordinator Kelly Lallo, who put the day together with her team of volunteers, reports that over $3,800 in proceeds was raised from the event.

Activities for grown-ups included a cash raffle, door prizes, and a popular silent auction with items such as a sailing trip and an Ocean City get-away. For kids, there was extensive playground equipment, a tree house, a play house, and face painting. None of the special activities provided throughout the day could have been possible without the help of a terrific team of volunteers who steamed crabs, directed parking, sold raffle tickets, grilled burgers, and painted kids’ faces.
