Duties
Flexible hours position within a group home for mentally ill in the evenings and weekends; serves as a member of a team in provision of training and activities in the socialization and life skill education units; assist with various tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school degree required; College degree preferred but related college courses without a degree will be accepted. Preferred at least one year experience working with deaf mentally ill persons and/or developmental disabled deaf persons; knowledge of psychosocial aspects of deafness; ability to adjust communicate style to meet skill levels of students; fluency in American Sign Language.

SIGN LANGUAGE INTERPRETER
Part Time

DESCRIPTION
Challenging, part-time staff interpreter position available with progressive, non-profit organization serving the local Deaf community. Interpreting situations include community-based psychiatric and medical appointments, staff meetings, job interviews, case consultations, phone calls, board committee meetings, etc. Position provides extensive exposure to various forms of sign—ASL, Contact Language, Manual English, MLS—in a supportive atmosphere conducive to developing skills. In addition, this position includes assisting in some support services (i.e., editing, special projects).
QUALIFICATIONS
National interpreter certification preferred but not required; minimum AA degree or equivalent experience; fluency in American Sign Language, conceptually accurate signed English, and spoken English; knowledge of Deaf issues including cultural, linguistic, psychological, and vocational aspects; knowledge of NAD-RID Code of Professional Conduct; willingness to assist staff with a variety of assignments.
