Community Service Center

The Community Service Center is a program of Deaf-REACH.

The Community Service Center provides the following community service programs for deaf adults who have disabilities or are economically disadvantaged:


Information, Referral, Advocacy, and Case Management:
Individuals are assisted to find and gain access to local services which they need. Services may include legal, residential, health, or transportation services, education, and benefits counseling.

Personal Counseling Service:
Offered are counseling services for individuals, families, and groups. Fees are assessed on a sliding scale, and limited evening appointments are available.

Housing Counseling and Placement Assistance Service:
Persons are assisted in looking for and securing housing. Services include providing information, conducting a housing search, serving as a landlord liaison, assisting in budgetary matters, and offering follow-up as necessary.

Chemical Dependence Treatment Program
Trained counselors provide a comprehensive drug and alcohol treatment service in an intensive and highly individualized setting. A full range of services includes assessment, intake, treatment and referral when necessary. The Chemical Dependence Treatment Program serves the general deaf community as well as people who have special needs and may live with multiple disabilities. Options include participating in individual therapy, educational and process groups, and sober activities.

Funding: Funds for the support of the community service programs come from gifts and donations, a United Way allocation, program service fees, and the Rehabilitation Services Administration. Hours: Service hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. For additional information, contact: 202-832-6681
